A  31-year-old Vernon man is presumed drowned when he went missing after he jumped into Cherry Creek near Cherryville BC to rescue his dog. The many creeks and rivers in BC are swollen with the spring run off and the crazy amount of rain we’ve had lately. Search and Rescue were called in but were unable to locate the man. The water is so fast flowing now that it is too dangerous for even the highly trained Search personal  to enter the water. Sadly now more than likely this will now be a recovery situation.
There were unconfirmed reports that the dog was found and brought to a local vet.
Please be very cautious when around the local creeks, rivers and lakes. Don’t under-estimate the power of a fast flowing creek. The banks of the river or creek can be very weak as well.
We don’t know much about this man except that his name is Chuck and he obviously loved his dog very much…..
