August 24, 2011 mountain bikers discovered human remains while exploring the possibility of building some trails in the mountains of Williams Lake BC. “That’s often how people are found. This is one of those cases where someone went off the beaten track and discovered a body,” says coroner Stephen Fonseca of the BC Coroners Service.

It was obvious the body had been in the location for some time and the coroner’s office took over the investigation. The identification was done using advanced fingerprint techniques and the help of Williams Lake RCMP Detachment, Vancouver Police Department Forensic Identification Section, the B.C. Police Missing Persons Centre and the Ontario Provincial Police Missing Persons/Unidentified Bodies Unit. Police are able to track Dennis whereabouts until around 2000 and are almost certain that this is when Dennis died. Police have ruled out foul play.
