Dean McEwen was reported missing from the Burnaby General Hospital on February 4, 2012. The Burnaby RCMP put out a press release asking for the publics help in locating Dean. I never saw this press release and I look pretty hard for any information about missing people in BC. Once again this shows how badly a Central Missing Person Data Base is needed for BC.

On Tuesday February 14, 2012 Police started getting calls about a man slashing tires, some people even took cell phone videos. Police eventually arrested Dean later that night.

I searched on Burnaby RCMP Website and did find a news release about Dean McEwen but have not seen any information in the media about this missing man. The News Release advised that Dean McEwan is dangerous and should not be approached. How was this not big news?

Since then the News release has been removed….

The Missing Families Heartache when a Unidentifed Body is Found

This past week there was a body found by a man walking his dog. The body was found near some bushes in Burnaby BC. Police have not yet identified the body or even said if this body is male or female and it sounds it may have been there for some time. There are many missing people from BC and I know that all the families and friends of a missing person are waiting and wondering if this is their loved one. I have had several people contact me to advise who they think the body is but I will not post something on speculation. That would be too hard on anyone that has a missing loved one….

Our son had been missing for almost a year and half when there was a body found in the Okanagan Lake. We watched the news cast and saw the body wrapped in a bag being placed in the back of the coroners van. Our family was convinced this was our missing son Mike because it was a bigger body and the only other missing young man in this area was much smaller. We had to wait almost a week for the body to be ID’d and that week was one of the longest weeks I have experienced. I was agonizing over what we would do with our sons body and in my mind kept seeing the  body bag being loaded into the Van.

When we were notified that it was NOT our son’s body the relief was overwhelming and tears were shed again not just because it was not our son but because it was another families son.  Once again we had a tiny bit of hope.  The really sad part is that the young man that was pulled from Okanagan lake was not even reported as missing!

As time goes on that hope becomes fainter and fainter but even today we do have a tiny ray of hope that our son will be found safe and sound. My thoughts are with all the family and friends with a missing loved one…

Currently there is no database for the Missing People of Canada. http://www.gopetition.com/petition/41301/signatures.html

Body Found December 2, 2011, Burnaby Lake. BC UPDATE It may Take Till January to Identify the Body

A body was found late this afternoon near Burnaby Lake in a wooded area.  It unclear how long the body has been there or even if it is male or female, but it is considered suspicious.

UPDATE: About 90% of  a human skeleton was found after more searching was done. The Langley RCMP are hoping that DNA or Dental Records will help solve the mystery. It appears the body has been in that location for many years. There was some ID found in the area and the RCMP have been trying to locate the family the ID card but may not even been from the unknown body.

There have been many missing people over the years and depending on the age of the deceased will depend on how easy it will be to locate any family members. It will more than likely be January before the body can be identified.

Attemped Kidnapping Sunday June 5, 2011, Burnaby BC

A woman was walking home from the Lougheed Mall in Burnaby BC when a man pulled up beside her and tried to grab her and bring her in the car. She fought back, slapping the man across the face but he kept trying to trying to get her is his vehicle. Luckily a good Samaritan came along and she escaped into that car and the police were called. By the time police arrived the suspect was long gone and although the woman does not know who this man she has seen him following her before in his car…how scarey is that?
